A total of 16 seniors at Watertown High School have earned the prestigious Global Seal of Biliteracy, Wisconsin Seal of Biliteracy, or both seals.
The Global Seal of Biliteracy is an international language certificate that recognizes and celebrates a student's level of proficiency in two or more languages. The Global Seal of Biliteracy enables programs and businesses across the world to quickly validate a student’s language skills to aid in advanced placement in a post-secondary language program, help students earn scholarships, and provide opportunities for employment. It also allows employers to easily verify students’ language skills and be confident that they possess valuable soft skills linked to multilingualism.
The Wisconsin Seal of Biliteracy is a prestigious, industry-recognized credential that honors graduating seniors who have achieved a high level of proficiency in English and one or more additional languages. More than just an academic achievement, the Seal celebrates a student’s "sociocultural competence" - their ability to navigate and respect diverse cultural perspectives in an increasingly interconnected world.
For students, receiving this state-certified honor is a testament to years of dedication, whether they are perfecting a second language in the classroom or maintaining a heritage language spoken at home. This distinction not only appears on official transcripts and diplomas but also serves as a powerful signal to universities and future employers that these graduates possess the advanced communication skills and global mindset necessary to lead in the 21st-century workforce.
In today’s global economy, proficiency in multiple languages has tremendous value. We congratulate our students on this significant achievement and look forward to seeing the opportunities that their Seal of Biliteracy will bring them in the future. Way to go Goslings!
Seniors graduating with the Global Seal of Biliteracy: Zazil Medina, Neftali Hernandez Rizo, Laura Peralta Paulino, and Lincoln Smith.
Seniors graduating with both the Global Seal of Biliteracy and Wisconsin Seal of Biliteracy: Isaac Mares, Andy Pineda, Brianna Velazquez, Ashley Almendarez, Emanuel Castellon, Erik Garcia, Ximena Garcia, Jonathan Hernandez, Kinverli Martinez, Oscar Ramirez, Kylie Tripp, and Diego Urbina Cruz.

Our community will vote on an operational referendum for the WUSD that would provide $4.5 million per year for five years to support district operational, instructional, and day-to-day maintenance expenses. If the referendum is approved, what would this mean for your taxes?
▪ A property with an assessed value of $100,000 would see an estimated tax increase of $96 per year or $8 per month
▪ A property with an assessed value of $200,000 would see an estimated tax increase of $192 per year or $16 per month
▪ A property with an assessed value of $300,000 would see an estimated tax increase of $288 per year or $24 per month
The WUSD recognizes it is asking for financial support at a time when many household budgets are already stretched thin. The district is working hard to reduce its operating budget - already cutting expenses by more than $1.2 million coming into the 2025-26 school year. Even with an approved referendum, deep budget reductions will still need to be made.

Don't forget, they are also welcoming donations via a GoFundMe at https://gofund.me/d91e47c25. Thank you!

Look all these lawnmowers!
We may be on Spring Break, but our Watertown High School SkillsUSA and Supermileage team students have been busy with the annual Lawnmower Tune-Up. This special event serves as an important fundraiser for WHS Technical Education programming.
This year our students, under the guidance of staff and parent advisors, are completing tune-ups on more than 200 lawnmowers. Each year the number of mowers serviced continues to grow - thank you, Watertown!
The $50 tune-up includes an oil change, blade sharpening, and new plug and filter. The mowers are also filled with new gas and power washed clean.
We are super proud of these students! Watch for next year's Lawnmower Tune-Up to be advertised in early March.
