The Watertown High School Academic Decathlon Team is heading to the National Competition in California later this month and is still working hard to raise funds to offset their travel expenses. Help them out this Wednesday, April 8, by enjoying dinner at Culver's of Watertown from 5-8 p.m. Students will be helping to deliver orders and earning a portion of the proceeds from all sales during that time frame.

Don't forget, they are also welcoming donations via a GoFundMe at https://gofund.me/d91e47c25. Thank you!

Look all these lawnmowers!

We may be on Spring Break, but our Watertown High School SkillsUSA and Supermileage team students have been busy with the annual Lawnmower Tune-Up. This special event serves as an important fundraiser for WHS Technical Education programming.

This year our students, under the guidance of staff and parent advisors, are completing tune-ups on more than 200 lawnmowers. Each year the number of mowers serviced continues to grow - thank you, Watertown!

The $50 tune-up includes an oil change, blade sharpening, and new plug and filter. The mowers are also filled with new gas and power washed clean.

We are super proud of these students! Watch for next year's Lawnmower Tune-Up to be advertised in early March.

Watertown High School alum Brandon Rocole (Class of 2021) returned to WHS on March 19 to speak with students in Emmie Carpenter’s Biomedical Innovations class about how ideas become real biomedical devices.

Brandon shared his journey from taking Project Lead the Way classes at WHS to researching and prototyping devices in college. He walked students through the engineering process used to develop medical technology and talked about the trial and error that comes with research, emphasizing the importance of persistence and collaboration.

After graduating from the UW-Milwaukee in December with bachelor’s degrees in Biomedical Engineering and Electrical Engineering, Brandon began a master’s program in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning in January. His current research focuses on hand rehabilitation, with a long-term goal of integrating AI into prosthetic technology.

Brandon credits Mrs. Carpenter’s PLTW courses, along with Mr. Domer’s Tech Ed classes and SkillsUSA, for helping him discover his passion and build the skills that led him to biomedical engineering.

By sharing his experiences, Brandon showed WHS students how the skills they are learning now can lead to real-world innovation and meaningful careers in biomedical engineering.

Pictured are Brandon and Mrs. Carpenter along with a collage of prosthetic hand prototypes Brandon designed as part of his university research.
