What better way to spend a #WatertownWay sunny, winter day than with some great friends and sleds? These Webster Wildcats enjoyed the outdoors yesterday doing just that!

Webster Elementary School held their monthly Cool, Awesome and Terrific Students (CATS) lunch on Friday, February 25 with Principal Brad Clark. These students are selected by teachers in grades K-5 for making great gains in an academic area or working super hard in their studies. Way to go, Wildcats!

Do you know any children from ages birth through age 5 who live in the Watertown Unified School District? Through generous support of the Greater Watertown Community Health Foundation, these children can be signed up for the Dolly Parton Imagination Library. Children will receive a free, high quality book each month, mailed directly to their home! This exciting program promotes early childhood literacy and fosters parent/caregiver-child interaction, which helps children learn the skills they will need for kindergarten, including larger vocabularies and healthy social and emotional development.

Students from Eric Kleine's Spanish Texts and Composition class at Watertown High School traveled to Schurz Elementary School on Thursday to read to Gayle Ebert's Dual Language Kindergarten class. The WHS students wrote their own children's stories as a final project for their Children's Literacy Unit in which they learned about the importance of reading to young children, the effects reading has on the brain development of a child, elements and structure of children's stories, and a study of the famous book "The Little Prince" (El Principito).

Spending a day at the beach sure sounds like a great idea right about now! Students in Mrs. Schwager's #WatertownWay first grade classroom decided to brighten up these winter days with an indoor beach day celebration. 🏖️

Tomorrow, Tuesday, February 22nd, we are anticipating freezing rain, ice, sleet and snow throughout the early morning hours and throughout the day. During the times of expected travel for our students, staff, families, and our WUSD bus transportation, the National Weather Service is predicting unsafe driving conditions. As a result, we will be closing school on Tuesday, February 22nd. All evening activities for Tuesday, February 22nd will also be canceled.
Please stay safe and stay warm out there.

Our #WatertownWay 4K students learned about dental health 🦷 last week with a fun activity showing what soda does to our teeth and how good brushing helps!

Introducing Miss Getlin’s Best Book Award Winners!
These #WatertownWay LEAP Leopards just wrapped up their opinion writing unit. Their final piece was to write about the best book ever and convince our judge (Mrs. Parys) that it really is the best book ever. It was a TOUGH choice because all students wrote very convincing pieces with strong reasoning.
Our runners up were Asher and Marcel and our first place winner was Teagan. Their final pieces are hanging up proudly in the hallway for all to see.
