Hello WUSD Students and Families! This is just a reminder that Dr. Jarred Burke, the last of three WUSD Superintendent finalists, will be available for a candidate forum tomorrow, Wednesday, June 8, 2022, from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. in-person in the WHS Media Center and via Zoom at https://isn.zoom.us/j/89084440843 or by phone at (312)626-6799 (Meeting ID is 890 8444 0843). This session will provide an opportunity for families, students, staff and community members to meet Dr. Burke and ask questions. The forum will be moderated by representatives from Hazard, Young, Attea & Associates, an education consulting firm hired by the Board in April 2022 to assist with the Superintendent search. Following the forums, the Board will interview each finalist again. The Board hopes to select a candidate in mid-June, with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2022. Our #WatertownWay staff would like to honor today all military personnel who lost their lives while serving our country.

Our WUSD Library Media programs are working jointly with the Watertown Public Library to share information about the Public Library's exciting summer programs. Please see the pamphlet your student will bring home in the next week, or check out the Watertown Public Library's website for a list of great summer activities! Memorial Day is a time to reflect upon those who served in our US Military. Today, our #WatertownWay REACH 18-21 Transition Program students spent the day learning about the history of Memorial Day. Students had the opportunity to walk around the Watertown Veterans Memorial Park honoring those men and women who served our country. While at the park, they discussed the different branches of the Military, the unforgettable wars, and special medals awarded for their service. The REACH students and staff would like to recognize and thank all those men and women who served in our US Military past and present - especially those who are from our Watertown Community.

The WUSD would like to thank all of our extraordinary scholarship donors for awarding $500,000 in scholarships to our outstanding #WatertownWay Class of 2022 Seniors last night! We are extremely humbled! Words cannot describe your generosity! THANK YOU!

Mr. Roley has been taking our #WatertownWay LEAP students outside during music class to enjoy the beautiful weather while they practice playing their recorders. 🎵🌞

Who could forget the 2013 Lip Dub?! It was so much fun, our current #WatertownWay WHS students decided to do their own version! Filming took place this morning, so stay tuned for the full feature version coming your way! It's not to late to donate glasses to the Watertown Lions club. A donation box is located at all schools in WUSD. This year nearly 40 pairs of glasses were donated to Schurz Elementary School! Last Friday, our #WatertownWay LEAP students invited grownups of their choice to share donuts and read around the school with. It was a HOLE lot of fun! 🍩 📖

Last Friday, these #WatertownWay LEAP Leopards participated in a FUN Fri-YAY! Students practiced reading sight words while playing their favorite board games. Before taking their turn, students had to read a sight word from their pile of cards. It was so sweet watching students help out their team member when a word was challenging to them. They sure know how to make learning fun!

The #WatertownWay WHS boys lacrosse team secured a 7-2 win against the Edgewood Crusaders at home Monday night. Don't miss their next home game tonight, Friday, May 13, at 6:00 p.m. Bring a lawn chair or blanket and watch this fast-paced, exciting sport!

More water balloon fun in the WUSD! The students at LEAP spent the month of April earning Glow Notes for good behaviors. They exceeded their goal and celebrated by throwing water balloons at their choice of staff. As you can see from the pictures, the students and staff all had a great time!
