More than 60 Watertown High School students were presented with awards and scholarships totaling just over $600,000 on Monday, June 3. In addition to the many local awards presented, a number of students received financial aid packages from the universities they plan to attend, substantially raising that figure of local support. The following is a list of students who received a total of $20,000 or more in scholarships.

● Jacob Johnson received scholarships totaling $36,583. He received the Muriel Thauer award valued at $12,000; Herb Kohl Foundation award, $10,000; Academic Excellence award, $9,000; Fort Community Credit Union scholarship, $2,000; AAUW award, $1,750; an Athletic Booster Club award, $1,500; and the NACK Valedictorian award, $333. Jacob Johnson is the son of Tina and Randy Johnson. After high school, Jacob plans on attending UW-Platteville and majoring in Electrical Engineering.

● Addison Schuch was awarded $35,800 in scholarships. They include the Joseph Davies scholarship at $21,000; Herb Kohl Foundation award, $10,000; the Ella Reubenhausen award, $4,800; and the Bank of Lake Mills award, $1,000. Addison Schuch is the daughter of Dan and Shannon Christian. Addison is attending UW-Madison to study Environmental Science and Art.

● Simeon Adrian received the WHS Class of 1955 scholarship totaling $32,000. Simeon Adrian is the son of Chad & Lisa Adrian. Simeon will be attending UW-La Crosse to major in Finance.

● Graeson Mihalko was awarded $28,750 in scholarships. He received the Betty J. Joseph scholarship valued at $26,000; the Watertown Country Club Women’s Association award, $2,000; and an Athletic Booster Club award, $750. Graeson Mihalko is the son of Katy Mihalko and Ron Mihalko. Graeson will be attending University of Miami to study Finance.

 ● Dylan Morgan received the Karl H. Zinser scholarship totaling $28,000. Dylan Morgan is the son of Wallace and Cynthia Morgan. Dylan plans on attending UW-Whitewater to study Accounting.

● Angela Tietz was awarded the Karl H. Zinser scholarship totaling $28,000. Angela Tietz is the daughter of Randy and Tammy Tietz. Angela is planning on attending UW-Whitewater to pursue a degree in Music Education.

● Ryley Wolfe received the Betty J. Joseph scholarship totaling $26,000. Ryley Wolfe is the daughter of Jeremy and Keri Wolfe. Ryley is planning to attend St. Norbert College and studying Pre-Med.

● Elizabeth Hafenstein received $23,500 in awards. She received the Rev. Frederick and Ruth Lemke scholarship valued at $21,000; the Coach J’s JamFest award, $1,500; and an Athletic Booster Club award, $1,000. Elizabeth Hafenstein is the daughter of Mark and Peggy Hafenstein. Elizabeth will be attending Carroll University and studying to become a Radiology Technologist.

● Claire Jaeckel was awarded $22,500 in scholarships. She was awarded the Rev. Frederick and Ruth Lemke scholarship valued at $21,000; the FFA Alumni scholarship, $1,000; and the National Honor Society award, $500. Claire Jaeckel is the daughter of Jason Jaeckel and Michelle Vette Jaeckel. Claire will be attending Winona State University majoring in Elementary Education.

● Ryan Bergman was awarded the Rev. Frederick and Ruth Lemke scholarship valued at $21,000. Ryan Bergman is the son of Dan and Michelle Bergman. After high school, Ryan plans on attending UW-Oshkosh to pursue a degree in Education.

● Amelia Boer was the recipient of the Rev. Frederick and Ruth Lemke scholarship valued at $21,000. Amelia Boer is the daughter of Carrie Jones. Amelia plans on attending UW-Milwaukee pursuing a degree in Criminal Justice.

● Rae Heier was awarded the Rev. Frederick and Ruth Lemke scholarship valued at $21,000. Rae Heier is the daughter of Josh and Stacie Heier. Rae is planning on attending University of Victoria to study Humanities.

● Alora Thomas was the recipient of the Rev. Frederick and Ruth Lemke scholarship valued at $21,000. Alora Thomas is the daughter of Steve and Pam Thomas. She plans on attending UW-La Crosse to study Diagnostic Medical Sonography.

● Abigail Bartz was the recipient of awards totaling $20,000. She received the Joseph & Sharon Darcey scholarship valued at $8,000; the Glenn & Terry Herold scholarship, $6,000; an Athletic Booster Club award, $2,000; the American Legion Post 189 scholarship, $2,000; the Watertown Outboarders award, $1,000; and an FFA Alumni scholarship, $1,000. Abigail Bartz is the daughter of John and Mindy Bartz. Abigail plans on attending UW-Platteville to study Environmental Engineering.
