Dear Schurz Tiger Families,

It is with great pleasure that I introduce myself as the new Principal of Schurz Elementary School. My name is Casey Rusch-Weiland, and I am thrilled to join this wonderful community dedicated to the success and well-being of every student.

As I enter my 14th year in the field of education, I bring a wealth of experience that includes 10 years as a special education teacher and, most recently, serving as the Dean of Students at Riverside Middle School for the past three years. Throughout my career, I have been passionate about fostering a supportive and inclusive environment where every student can thrive academically and socially.

One of my core beliefs is that collaboration between families, educators, and the broader community is essential for student success. I am committed to working closely with all of you to ensure that Schurz Elementary continues to be a place where students feel safe, inspired, and motivated to achieve their highest potential.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my husband and our 9-year-old daughter. We love playing with our two energetic dogs, swimming, and sharing our love for reading. As a proud resident of this great state, I am also a huge Wisconsin sports fan, cheering passionately for the Brewers, Packers, Bucks, and Badgers!

I am excited to get to know each of you and to collaborate in creating a positive and enriching school experience for our students.
